Auf dem Server sowie auf dem Client:

sudo apt install mosh

Danach noch auf dem Server den UDP-Port für mosh in der Firewall freigeben:

ufw allow 60001/udp
</code>

Und anschließend kann man sich vom Client wie vorher mit ssh ganz normal einloggen.
